About Getting Into Infosec
Getting Into Infosec is a podcast of interviews with people who transitioned into information security and cybersecurity jobs, so you can learn from and be inspired by their experience. There is no linear path into the field, and the hope is that you'll recognize yourself in at least one of the guests.
Guests were teachers, paralegals, librarians, military veterans, developers, mechanics and IT help desk techs before they made the switch. Across 43 episodes and 1,709 minutes, they explain what they did before security, how they got their first role, and what they'd tell someone starting today.
The format
- Each episode opens with a short summary from the host, then goes deep on one guest's story.
- Somewhere in the middle you'll hear a spoof ad: a parody commercial poking fun at the security industry. Transcripts on this site mark them so you don't mistake them for real advice.
- Every episode page has a summary, chapters, key takeaways and the full transcript.
